Kentucky Counties

Butler County is in western Kentucky, about an hour north of Bowling Green. It’s named after Richard Butler, a Revolutionary War hero.

Caldwell County sits in western Kentucky. It’s actually not far from “Land Between the Lakes”, which is a national recreational area.

Calloway County is in southwestern Kentucky, right by the Tennessee border. About 39,000 people live here, with Murray as the county seat.

Campbell County is in northern Kentucky across the river from Cincinnati. Newport as the largest city and Alexandria as the county seat.

Carlisle County is in far western Kentucky, part of the Jackson Purchase region. It’s one of the least populous counties in the state.

Carroll County is set along the Ohio River in northern Kentucky, with Carrollton as its county seat. The river plays a central role here.

Carter County is in northeastern Kentucky, part of the Appalachian foothills. This county is where nature takes center stage.

Casey County is in south-central Kentucky, known as the “Knobs” region. U.S. Route 127 is the main thoroughfare, connecting you to Danville.

Christian County is in southwestern Kentucky, bordering Tennessee. Hopkinsville is the county seat. It celebrates “Little Green Men Days”.

Clark County is in central Kentucky, just east of Lexington. The county’s part of the Bluegrass region, so horse farms are common.

Clay County is tucked away in southeastern Kentucky, with Manchester serving as its county seat. The county’s known for its rugged beauty.

Tucked against the Tennessee border, Clinton County boasts rolling hills and friendly faces. Albany is the county seat, located in the south.

Crittenden County is located in western Kentucky, with Marion as its county seat. The Ohio River forms the northern border.

Straddling the Cumberland River, this county is located in south-central Kentucky. Burkesville is the county seat with its historic buildings.

Daviess County is located in northwestern Kentucky, next to the Ohio River. It’s home to Owensboro, the state’s fourth-largest city.
