Texas Counties

Refugio County is down on the Texas Gulf Coast. It’s a small place with a rich history. The county seat is also named Refugio.

Roberts County is way up in the Texas Panhandle. It’s about as remote as you can get in Texas. Miami is the county seat.

Robertson County is right in the heart of the Brazos Valley. Franklin, the county seat, is a fun little town with a courthouse square.

Rockwall County is east of Dallas. It’s the smallest county in Texas. This place is booming. It’s part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Central West Texas is home to Runnels County, where agriculture reigns supreme. Ballinger, the county seat, sits along the Colorado River.

Rusk County sits deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas. It’s where history and nature collide. The county seat is Henderson.

Anderson County sits in East Texas, about halfway between Dallas and Houston. Sabine National Forest occupies half of the county.

San Augustine County sits in the heart of Deep East Texas. The county seat, also called San Augustine, claims to be the oldest town in Texas.

San Jacinto County sits about an hour north of Houston. It’s named after the famous battle that won Texas its independence.

The Gulf Coast breeze blows steady through San Patricio County. It’s in South Texas, just across the bay from Corpus Christi.

San Saba County is in Central Texas, where the Hill Country meets the plains. They call San Saba County the Pecan Capital of the World.

Schleicher County is pure West Texas. It’s where the Edwards Plateau starts to give way to the desert. Eldorado is the county seat.

Scurry County is way out in West Texas. It’s oil country with lots of pump jacks. Snyder is the county seat that’s seen boom and bust.

Cattle country. That’s Shackelford County in a nutshell. It’s in north-central Texas, where the Cross Timbers fade into the Rolling Plains.

Shelby County is deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas, hugging the Louisiana border. Center is the county seat.
