Texas Counties

Fisher County is out in West Texas, where the land flattens out. It’s cattle country. Always has been. Roby is the county seat, a small town.

The plains of the Texas Panhandle are home to Floyd County. It’s flat. But there’s beauty in that vastness. Floydada is the county seat.

Foard County sits in northwest Texas, part of the Rolling Plains region. It’s small. One of the least populous counties in the state.

Fort Bend County is just southwest of Houston. It’s one of the fastest-growing counties in the state. The county’s incredibly diverse.

Franklin County is a little piece of East Texas, northeast of Dallas. Mount Vernon is the county seat. Lake Cypress Springs is a hotspot.

Freestone County is in East Texas, about halfway between Dallas and Houston. Teague is the biggest town but Fairfield is the county seat.

Frio County is in South Texas. It’s hot. Real hot. The name “Frio” means cold in Spanish, which is pretty ironic given the scorching summers.

Gaines County is true West Texas. It’s right on the New Mexico border, flat as a pancake and dry as a bone. Oil is king here.

Sun, sand, and sea breezes. That’s Galveston County for you. This county is located on the Gulf Coast, just southeast of Houston.

Garza County is located in North Texas. Post is the county seat, named after cereal king C.W. Post. He dreamed of building a utopia here.

Fredericksburg is the heart of Gillespie County, sitting pretty in the Texas Hill Country. German settlers founded this place back in 1846.

Glasscock County is one of the least populous counties in Texas, right in the middle of West Texas oil country. Garden City is the only town.

History echoes in Goliad County. It’s in South Texas, near the Gulf Coast. Goliad State Park is a great place to soak in all that history.

Gonzales County is in Central Texas near San Antonio and Houston. The county seat, also called Gonzales, is full of historic buildings.

Gray County is up in the Texas Panhandle. Pampa is the biggest town, known as the “Energy Capital” thanks to all the oil and gas.
