Coosa County is in central Alabama. It’s full of rolling hills and winding rivers. Rockford is the county seat, a tiny town where everybody knows everybody. The population is small, around 10,000.

The county is named after the Coosa River, which in turn was named after the Coosa Native American tribe. There’s no major interstate, but Alabama Highway 22 will take you through the heart of the county.

Coosa County is also home to Hatchet Creek, a popular spot for kayaking. Don’t forget Coosa River, which runs along Coosa Wildlife Management Area in the west section of the county.
