Elmore County, Alabama

Located just north of Montgomery, Elmore County is one of Alabama’s fastest-growing areas. Wetumpka is the county seat, known for an ancient meteor crater. About 90,000 people live here.
U.S. Highway 231 makes getting around easy in the county. Visitors often visit Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson Park. It hosts many events throughout the year, including monthly living history events.
Lake Martin touches the eastern side. Also, The Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers meet here to form the Alabama River. Between rivers, lakes, and history, Elmore County has a bit of everything. Just watch out for the occasional alligator sunning itself by the water.
