Clay County, Alabama
Clay County is in east central Alabama. Ashland is the county seat. It’s a small place with only about 13,000 people in the whole county. But you know what they say – good things, small packages, all that jazz.
The Talladega National Forest covers a big chunk of the west. This area has lots of hiking and camping if that’s your thing. There are no major interstates, but Alabama Highway 9 will get you where you need to go.
Clay County was named after Henry Clay, an American lawyer and statesman. Not the actual clay. That would be weird. There’s no interstate highways here, so it’s pretty quiet. Farming and timber are key industries here.
