Crowley County, Colorado
Crowley County is on Colorado’s eastern plains, east of Pueblo. It’s flat farmland, mostly wheat and hay fields. Farming used to be bigger, but water issues have hit hard.
Ordway is the county seat, a small town like the rest here. The area has some interesting history tied to early settlers and the Dust Bowl.
The Arkansas River forms the southern border. But Lake Meredith is popular for fishing and boating. There’s a state prison that provides some jobs. The population is small and shrinking, under 6,000 now.
