Kiowa County, Colorado
Kiowa County is out on Colorado’s eastern plains. It’s about as rural as it gets. Eads is the county seat, but it’s a small town like everywhere else here.
It’s flat farmland, mostly wheat and cattle country. The population is tiny, less than 1,400. There’s good hunting, especially for pheasants.
The Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site is here. It’s a somber national historic site, located in Kiowa County. It’s quiet out here, with big skies and not much traffic.
