Hopkins County, in western Kentucky, centers around Madisonville. With about 45,000 residents, it’s one of the region’s larger counties.
I-69 and the Western Kentucky Parkway make it easy to get here. The county’s also big on hunting and fishing, especially at Lake Peewee.
There’s a cool old railroad depot turned museum in Madisonville, which is the county seat. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park offers great spots for hiking, fishing, and camping (just southwest of the county line).
