Johnson County straddles the Arkansas River Valley in western Arkansas. From river valley farms to mountain vistas, Johnson County showcases the diverse beauty of western Arkansas.
Clarksville is the county seat and is known for its peaches. In fact, it hosts the annual Johnson County Peach Festival to celebrate this tasty fruit. It’s actually the longest running festival in the state of Arkansas.
Many consider Johnson County as a gateway to the Ozark National Forest. It basically takes up the northern section of the county. Lake Dardanelle is also a favorite spot for fishing and boating. Hikers can tackle the Spadra Creek Nature Trail or parts of the Ozark Highlands Trail.
