Johnson County, Nebraska

Johnson County is tucked away in the southeast corner of Nebraska. Tecumseh is the county seat and is named after a famous Shawnee chief.
The Nemaha River winds its way through the county. It’s not much more than a creek in some spots. But it’s vital for the local farmers. Speaking of farming, that’s the main driver of the economy. Corn and soybeans, mostly.
History runs deep here. You can see it in the old buildings, the family farms passed down for generations. The population’s been shrinking for years. Young folks tend to leave for the big city. But those who stay are fiercely loyal to their home. Community is everything here.
