Lake and Peninsula Borough, Alaska

Lake and Peninsula Location Map Alaska

Lake and Peninsula Borough is a vast, wild area in southwest Alaska. It’s big – about the size of West Virginia. But it only has around 1,500 people. The borough is named for its many lakes and the Alaska Peninsula.

Most folks live in small villages spread across the region. There are no cities here, just tiny communities. Fishing and hunting are big parts of life. The area is known for its volcanoes, including some that are still active.

Bears are common, drawn by the salmon runs. The borough has no roads connecting it to the outside world. People get around by small planes, boats, or snowmobiles. Tourism is growing, with people coming to fish, see wildlife, and experience unspoiled nature. The land is a mix of tundra, mountains, and coastline.
