Rockcastle County, Kentucky

Located in southeastern Kentucky, Rockcastle County is surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains and the rolling hills of the Bluegrass.
Mount Vernon is the county seat. The entire population is about 16,000. The county is named after the Rockcastle River, a scenic waterway with fishing, kayaking, and more.
Interstate 75 runs through the county. And if you’re into bluegrass, check out some of the festivals here. Just don’t expect any electric guitars. Remember, in Rockcastle, “rock” refers to the geology, not the music. Or does it?
