Sitka City and Borough is on Baranof Island in Southeast Alaska. It was once the capital of Russian America. Fishing and tourism are big industries now. Sitka is known for its beautiful scenery, with mountains meeting the sea.
The town can only be reached by plane or boat. Sitka National Historical Park has totem poles and trails. The area has a rich Tlingit heritage mixed with Russian history. You can often see whales, eagles, and bears around town.
