Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area is in Southeast Alaska, mostly on Prince of Wales Island. Craig is the largest town. Logging used to be the main industry, but fishing and tourism are more important now.

The area has the most extensive road system in Southeast Alaska, but you still need a ferry or plane to get here from the mainland. The island has thick forests and lots of wildlife, including bears and deer

Hyder, on the mainland, is unique because you can drive there from Canada. The area has a rich Alaska Native heritage, especially Tlingit and Haida cultures. Cave exploration is a draw for some visitors. The scenery is beautiful, with mountains, forests, and coastline. About 6,000 people live here in small towns and villages.
