Teller County, Colorado
Teller County is just west of Colorado Springs. The county is pretty high up. The country is mostly covered in forest. This includes Pike National Forest, which has great hiking.
Woodland Park is the biggest town. Its altitude is also high so it calls itself “The City Above the Clouds”. While Cripple Creek is famous for its casinos, Victor is this cool old mining town that’s way less crowded.
The economy is mostly tourism now but winters can be tough here. If you like mountain living with easy access to a bigger city, Teller County might work for you.
