Uinta County, Wyoming

Uinta County sits in the southwest corner of Wyoming, right up against the Utah border. It’s named after the Uinta Mountains, which you can see looming on the horizon.
Evanston is the county seat, a little city with a surprising amount of history. These days, it’s all about ranching, oil, and natural gas. The landscape is a mix of high plains and forested mountains.
Winters are cold but locals know how to make the most of it. Ice fishing is huge here and so is snowmobiling. If you’re passing through on I-80, take some time to explore. You might be surprised by what you find.
