Lake Guntersville was created by damming the Tennessee River. This is now Alabama’s largest lake and a top spot for fishing and boating. In fact, the lake hosts numerous professional fishing tournaments throughout the year.
Cathedral Caverns State Park boasts one of the largest cave openings in the world. Albertville calls itself the “Fire Hydrant Capital of the World”, with a giant hydrant statue to prove it. U.S. Highway 431 is the main route through the county.
