Nebraska Counties

Saline County sits in the southeast part of Nebraska. Wilber, the county seat, is known as the “Czech Capital of the USA.” No kidding.

Missouri River sits in eastern Nebraska, next to Iowa. It’s the third most populous county in the state. Papillion is the county seat.

Saunders County sits right in the heart of eastern Nebraska. Wahoo is the county seat. Yep, that’s really its name.

Scotts Bluff County is out in the Nebraska Panhandle, next to Wyoming. Gering is the county seat. But Scottsbluff is the biggest town.

Southeast Nebraska is home to Seward County. The county seat? Seward, of course. They call it “Nebraska’s Fourth of July City”.

Sheridan County is up in northwest Nebraska. It’s part of the Sandhills region. Gordon’s the biggest town, but Rushville is the county seat.

Central Nebraska is home to Sherman County. Loup City is the county seat. They call it the “Polish Capital of Nebraska”. No kidding.

Sioux County is about as far northwest as you can get in Nebraska. It’s up against Wyoming and South Dakota. Harrison is the county seat.

Northeast Nebraska is where you’ll spot Stanton County. Stanton is the only real town and it’s also the county seat. Farming’s the main deal.

Thayer County sits down in south-central Nebraska, right on the Kansas border. Hebron is the county seat. The county’s mostly farmland.

Thomas County is in the middle of the Nebraska Sandhills. The Nebraska National Forest occupies the southeastern region of the county.

Thurston County sits up in northeast Nebraska, right along the Iowa border. Pender is the county seat but Winnebago is the biggest town.

Valley County is planted right in the heart of central Nebraska. Ord is the county seat. It’s a small town, but it’s got character.

Washington County is in Eastern Nebraska, just north of Omaha. It borders Iowa to the east. Blair is the county seat.

Wayne County sits in Northeast Nebraska. Wayne is the county seat. It’s also the biggest town. Wayne State College is here.
