Decatur County, Kansas
Decatur County is way up in the northwest corner of Kansas. It has only about 2,600 folks spread across its High Plains landscape. It’s a perfect square of a county.
Oberlin, the county seat, is home to the Last Indian Raid Museum. This museum tells the story of the last Native American raid in Kansas.
If you’re into geology, the county has some impressive chalk badlands. And if you’re passing through, keep an eye out for the Prairie Dog State Park (to the east). Yes, there are actual prairie dogs, and they’re pretty darn cute when they stand up.
