Linn County is on the eastern edge of Kansas, right on the Missouri border. Mound City is the county seat. The county is mostly rural, with some small towns.

The Marais des Cygnes River flows through the county. People come here for fishing, boating, and scenic views.

Linn County is also home to the Marais des Cygnes Massacre State Historic Site, a reminder of the area’s turbulent past. One of the good things is that it’s not far from Kansas City if you need a city fix.
