Menifee County, Kentucky

In the foothills of eastern Kentucky, Menifee County is a small and quiet place where nature truly takes center stage. It’s one of the smaller counties in the state.
Frenchburg is its county seat, situated right in Daniel Boone National Forest. Looking for a scenic drive? Kentucky Route 36 and 1274 wind through the county with beautiful views of Kentucky.
But the county’s big draw is the Red River Gorge in the southern section. This canyon system is on the Red River and geologically part of the Pottsville Escarpment. Rock climbers come from all over to scale its cliffs.
