Idaho Counties

Ada County sits in the heart of Idaho’s Treasure Valley. Boise, the state capital, anchors the county and gives it a hip urban vibe.

Adams County is a rural slice of western Idaho, hugging the Snake River along the Oregon border. The county seat is Council.

Bannock County sits in southeastern Idaho, straddling the line between mountains and high desert. Pocatello is the county seat.

Bear Lake County sits in Idaho’s southeastern corner, right up against Utah and Wyoming. The star of the show is Bear Lake itself.

Benewah County is situated in Idaho’s panhandle, a place of forests, lakes, and small towns. St. Maries is the county seat.

Bingham County sprawls across southeastern Idaho’s Snake River Plain. The Fort Hall Indian Reservation covers part of the county.

Blaine County is where Idaho gets glamorous. It’s home to Sun Valley, the ritzy ski resort that put Idaho on the jet-set map.

Boise County is a rural area just north of Idaho’s capital. It’s mostly mountains and forests, with towns scattered along the Payette River.

Bonner County is Idaho’s northern playground, a land of lakes and mountains. Sandpoint, the county seat, sits on massive Lake Pend Oreille.

Bonneville County is eastern Idaho’s urban hub, anchored by Idaho Falls. The Snake River runs through town, with that famous waterfall.

Boundary County is Idaho’s northernmost point, wedged between Montana, Washington and British Columbia. Bonners Ferry is the only real town.

Butte County is a tiny slice of Idaho that most folks drive right through. It’s high desert country. Arco is the county seat in the center.

Camas County is a tiny patch of Idaho that most people never see. It’s tucked away in the south-central part of the state.

Canyon County is Idaho’s agricultural heartland, sprawling across the western Snake River Plain. Nampa and Caldwell are the biggest towns.

Caribou County sits in southeastern Idaho, a place of rolling hills and wide valleys. Caribou National Forest covers a good chunk.
