Caribou County, Idaho

Caribou County sits in southeastern Idaho, a place of rolling hills and wide valleys. Soda Springs, the county seat, is known for its naturally carbonated water and weird geyser. It’s mostly farming and ranching country. Phosphate mining is big business too.
The landscape is a mix of high desert and mountains, with Caribou National Forest covering a good chunk. Outdoor recreation includes hunting, fishing, ATV riding. You name it. The Oregon Trail passed through, and there are still signs of it if you know where to look.
It’s conservative country, with strong Mormon influence. Folks are friendly but wary of outsiders. The population’s slowly shrinking as young people leave for bigger cities. Those who stay love the open spaces.
