Boise County, Idaho
Boise County is a rural area just north of Idaho’s capital. It’s mostly mountains and forests, with tiny towns scattered along the Payette River. Idaho City, the county seat, looks like it’s straight out of an old Western. Gold rush fever built it, but now it’s just a quirky tourist stop.
The county is a magnet for outdoor people. Whitewater rafting on the Payette is world-class. Hiking trails crisscross the Boise National Forest. Bogus Basin ski area iclaim it as a top ski destination.
Summers bring campers and hunters. Winters can be brutal, with some towns nearly cut off. There’s a fiercely independent streak here. People value their privacy and space with just the right amount of wilderness.
