Texas Counties

Orange County is in the southeast corner of Texas, right on the Louisiana border. Hurricanes have shaped this place. Rita and Ike hit hard.

Palo Pinto County is west of Dallas. It’s where the prairie meets the hills. The Brazos River cuts through, creating some gorgeous scenery.

Panola County is in East Texas on the Louisiana line. Carthage is the county seat and is known for the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.

Parmer County sits way up in the Texas Panhandle. It’s flat out here. Farming is the lifeblood. Lots of center-pivot irrigation systems.

Pecos County is a monster. It covers over 4,700 square miles of West Texas. Fort Stockton is the biggest town and county seat.

Polk County is deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Livingston is the county seat with Lake Livingston as the big draw.

Potter County sprawls across the Texas Panhandle. Amarillo is the heart of this county. This is cattle country, key the local economy.

You won’t find a more remote place in Texas than Presidio County. It’s way out in the Big Bend country. Ranching is still big out here.

Rains County is located northeast of Dallas. They call Rains County the “Eagle Capital of Texas”. Lake Tawakoni forms the western border.

The Panhandle of Texas is home to Randall County. It’s a place where the wide-open sky meets endless prairie. Canyon is the county seat.

Red River County sits up in the northeastern corner of Texas, right on the Oklahoma border. The county gets its name from the Red River.

Reeves County is out in Far West Texas. Pecos, the county seat, calls itself the “Home of the World’s First Rodeo”.
