Estill County is right in the middle of Kentucky, straddling the Bluegrass and Eastern Coal Field regions. Irvine, the county seat, sits pretty on the Kentucky River.
The county’s known for its scenic beauty, with the Daniel Boone National Forest covering a good chunk of it. Approximately half of it.
