Estill County is right in the middle of Kentucky, straddling the Bluegrass and Eastern Coal Field regions. Irvine, the county seat, sits pretty on the Kentucky River.

The county’s known for its scenic beauty, with the Daniel Boone National Forest covering a good chunk of it. Approximately half of it.

Mountain bikers love the county’s trails, while history buffs dig into its past at the Fitchburg Furnace. Oh, and if you’re passing through in October, don’t miss the Mountain Mushroom Festival. Who knew fungus could be so fun?
