Greeley County, Kansas
Way out in western Kansas, Greeley County is about as close to the middle of nowhere as you can get. It’s one of the least populated counties in the state with just over 1,200 folks spread across endless prairie.
Tribune is the county seat, has a single stoplight… and rumor has it, they only turn it on for special occasions. Despite its size, the place has heart.
Every summer, the whole county shows up for the Greeley County Fair, where the pie contest is fiercer than any big city bake-off. And if you’re into astronomy, the night skies here are so dark, you can practically reach out and touch the Milky Way.
