Owyhee County, Idaho

Owyhee County is in southwestern Idaho, next to Nevada and Oregon. It’s huge. In fact, it’s bigger than some states. Murphy’s the county seat. The county’s named after some Hawaiian fur trappers.
The Owyhee Mountains dominate the landscape. They’re rugged and beautiful. The Snake River forms the northern border. It’s carved out some impressive canyons. The Bruneau Sand Dunes are here too, which is the highest single-structured sand dune in North America.
Silver City is a ghost town worth checking out. It’s like stepping back in time. This is serious cowboy country. Cattle outnumber people by a lot. This place is remote. Really remote. Cell service is spotty at best.
