Out in western Kansas, Gove County is a flat area with only about 2,700 residents spread thin. Gove City is the county seat.
Tucked away in northwest Kansas, Graham County is pure High Plains country. Hill City, despite the name, is pretty darn flat.
Grant County is out in southwest Kansas. Ulysses is the county seat. It’s pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
Gray County is also in southwest Kansas. There’s some interesting Santa Fe Trail history here. There’s a wind farm here and agriculture too.
Way out in western Kansas, Greeley County is about as close to the middle of nowhere as you can get. It’s one of the least populated counties.
Greenwood County is out in the Flint Hills of southeast Kansas. Eureka is the county seat. It has more trees and hills than a lot of Kansas.
Hamilton County sits way out in southwest Kansas, right up against the Colorado border. It’s about as remote as you can get in the state.
Harper County sits in south-central Kansas, right along the Oklahoma border. It’s classic prairie country with its wide open spaces.
Harvey County is right in the heart of Kansas, just north of Wichita. Newton’s the county seat, a town with a rich railroad history.
Haskell County is tucked away in southwest Kansas, part of the state’s High Plains region. Sublette serves as the county seat.
Hodgeman County sits in the heart of western Kansas in the middle of nowhere (and that’s how locals like it). Jetmore is the county seat.
Jackson County sits in northeast Kansas, not far from Topeka. The Flint Hills meet the glaciated region, which creates a unique landscape.
Jefferson County is in northeast Kansas, not far from Topeka. Oskaloosa is the county seat. It’s a mix of farmland and bedroom communities.
Jewell County is up in north-central Kansas. U.S. Highway 36 runs through the county, linking it to nearby Nebraska and other parts of Kansas.
