Hamilton County, Kansas
Hamilton County sits way out in southwest Kansas, right up against the Colorado border. It’s about as remote as you can get in this part of the country.
Syracuse is the county seat, which is a small town with a lot of grit. You’ll see massive center-pivot irrigation systems across the landscape.
The Arkansas River runs through the county, but it’s often more sand than water. There’s not much in the way of trees, but the sunsets are something else. The sky feels enormous out here. People in Hamilton County have learned to roll with the punches Mother Nature throws their way.
