Stevens County, Kansas

Stevens County is down in the southwest corner of Kansas, with Hugoton as the county seat. It’s flat prairie land as far as the eye can see.
The county has a bunch of natural gas fields, so you’ll spot some pumpjacks dotting the landscape. Farming is still big here, especially wheat.
The population’s pretty small with about 5,500 folks calling it home. I’d say the pace here is easygoing. Hugoton has Stevens County Gas & Historical Museum, which highlights the history of gas exploration in the area.
