US Counties

Clear Creek County is in the mountains west of Denver. It’s named after Clear Creek, which cuts through the middle of the county.

Conejos County is in southern Colorado, right up against New Mexico. It’s mostly rural, with small towns scattered around.

Costilla County is at the south end of Colorado San Luis Valley next to New Mexico. San Luis, the county seat, is the oldest town in Colorado.

Crowley County is on Colorado’s eastern plains, east of Pueblo. Ordway is the county seat, a small town like the rest here.

Custer County is in south-central Colorado, tucked into the Wet Mountains. Westcliffe and Silver Cliff are the main towns, old mining spots.

Delta County sits on Colorado’s Western Slope, where mountains give way to mesas and valleys. The county seat is Delta.

Denver County is basically the city of Denver, Colorado’s capital and biggest city. It’s in the middle of the Front Range urban corridor.

Dolores County is in southwest Colorado, tucked away in the mountains. It’s one of the least populated counties in the state of Colorado.

Douglas County sits between Denver and Colorado Springs, right in the heart of the Front Range. Castle Rock is the county seat

Eagle County stretches from the high Rockies to the western slope, centered around the I-70 corridor. The population is around 55,000.

El Paso County is in central Colorado, anchored by Colorado Springs. It’s the most populous county in the state.

Elbert County is on Colorado’s eastern plains, just southeast of Denver. It’s mostly rural, with rolling grasslands and scattered ranches.

Fremont County sits in south-central Colorado. The area is known for its mountains and canyons. Canon City is the county seat.

Garfield County stretches across western Colorado, from high mountains to desert canyons. Glenwood Springs is the county seat.

Gilpin County is Colorado’s second-smallest county, tucked in the mountains west of Denver. Central City is the county seat of this county.
