Gem County, Idaho

Gem County sits where the Payette River leaves the mountains and hits the plains. Emmett, the only real town, is known for its cherry orchards. The fruit is so popular they throw a whole festival for it each June.
Locals joke that there are more tractors than cars on some roads. Speaking of spuds, Gem County grows its fair share, but it’s not all about taters here.
The Squaw Butte dominates the skyline so it’s hard to miss. There’s good hiking in the nearby forests and plenty of spots for hunting and fishing. It’s quiet, rural living with Boise just a short drive away.
