Clearwater County, Idaho
Clearwater County is tucked away in north-central Idaho, a land of deep forests and wild rivers. Orofino, the county seat, sits on the banks of the Clearwater River. It’s logging county, with a side of tourism.
The landscape is rugged and green. It’s a far cry from southern Idaho’s deserts. Dworshak Reservoir is a big draw for boaters and anglers. You might spot elk or even moose wandering around. The Nez Perce tribe has deep roots here.
Lewis and Clark passed through, and you can still trace their route. Winters are wet and gloomy. Summers are gorgeous but short. There’s not much nightlife, but outdoor adventures are endless. Locals take pride in their self-reliance and hunting skills.
