Idaho County, Idaho

Idaho Locator Map Idaho

Idaho County is the biggest county in the state. It’s right in the heart of Idaho. The Nez Perce called this land home for thousands of years. Gold brought settlers here in the 1860s, changing everything.

Rugged mountains and deep forests cover much of the county. Hikers and campers flock to the Gospel Hump Wilderness. The Salmon River, nicknamed “The River of No Return,” cuts through it.

Grangeville serves as the county seat. It’s a small town with a lot of character. Elk and deer roam free, making it a hunter’s paradise. Logging trucks rumble down winding roads.
