Gunnison County, Colorado
Gunnison County covers a big chunk of central Colorado, from high peaks to sage-covered valleys. Crested Butte, the famous ski town, is in the northern part.
The county seat is Gunnison and is home to Western Colorado University. It’s mostly rural, with vast stretches of public land. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a stunning national park here.
Ranching is still important, especially in the Gunnison Valley. Tourism drives the economy, but there’s a strong local culture too.
